With shrinking product development timelines, and increasing complexity, the CEO of design software solutions giant Autodesk believes it is important for companies to digitise their design, engineering processes, and move away from broken, disconnected activities to realise the potential of AI in design and process automation.
In a world of technological disruption, the automotive industry is witnessing several challenges, particularly emerging from the megatrends of autonomous vehicles, electrification as well as software-defined vehicles or SDVs. As a result, while companies are trying to balance resource allocation between ICE and EV development, they are also looking at technological tools to power them through this mega transformation.
According to Dr Andrew Anagnost, CEO, Autodesk, “It is very challenging to balance the old ways of doing things, with the newer ways. The experience inside a car is increasingly getting dependent upon hardware and software integration and this is emanating a huge challenge for engineers designing a modern car, especially if it is combined with the concept of autonomy.”
In this video, Dr Anagnost elaborates that while artificial intelligence (AI) has been a core element of the myriad tools offered by Autodesk, for almost a decade, companies must take a giant leap of transitioning to the cloud to unlock the complete power of AI. “Companies need to digitise and move away from processes that are constantly broken by paper or other disconnected processes. And to do that, they increasingly need to move to the cloud and use data-driven applications to realise the benefits of AI in design,” he adds.
