What’s new for the 2025 Genesis G90?
Genesis slices two paint colors from the lineup and makes wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto standard for 2025.
The G90 is Genesis’ largest sedan, and it wears standout styling that won’t be for everyone. Things get off to a somewhat conventional start up front with the big shield-like grille, but then the wild roofline goes awry. We can’t fault Genesis for trying something different, but ultimately the G90 simply tries too hard to make a statement. It’s much better inside, which is where you’ll be spending your time. It’s a stylish affair with a big, but not overwhelming, 12.3-inch touchscreen, a nice mix of real and synthetic leather, and gorgeous wood trim. The G90 is also better organized than its screen-heavy rivals, with decent control placement and more conventional buttons and knobs than we’ve come to expect from top-end luxury cars.
Every G90 is powered by a twin-turbocharged 3.5-liter V-6, which puts out 375 hp in base form, or 409 hp when aided by the available 48-volt mild-hybrid system. Neither has the rush of acceleration of an electric car, but they are fairly quick. They ride exceptionally well, either with the standard adaptive dampers or, in the mild-hybrid version, with the supple air suspension. Don’t look for sporty moves, though, especially as the G90 weighs upward of 5,200 pounds.
The G90 is estimated to return just 20 to 21 mpg combined, which isn’t particularly good even for a big, powerful sedan.
Inside, the Genesis G90 is a stunner with lovely proportions and spectacular seats. Genesis did a great job packing in lots of high-end materials that endow this car with a luxurious, upmarket feel worthy of its price tag. If there’s a downside, it’s that the trunk can only hold around 12 cubic feet of stuff.
The G90 is unusual among high-end sedans in that it has been crash-tested. The IIHS rates it a Top Safety Pick+, its top award. All models have a generous amount of crash-avoidance tech and driver-assistance features, including a system that allows for several-minute stints of hands-free driving at highway speeds.
How much does the 2025 Genesis G90 cost?
The 2025 G90 runs $90,950 to start. That’s a lot of cash, but you’ll find a lot of stuff inside and out, including soft leather upholstery, power-adjustable front seats with heating and cooling, a rather intuitive infotainment system displayed through a 12.3-inch touchscreen, heated rear seats, wireless device charging, Bang & Olufsen audio, and 20-inch alloy wheels.
